Whelen Edge Series Lightbars

The Whelen Edge was introduced by the company in 1983 as a low profile lightbar. It has been refined and developed for over 15 years. The sleek looking aerodynamic Edge 9000 still remains an industry standard today. The Edge is a strobe based lightbar and comes in a variety of sizes to fit your needs. The Edge departs from the usual lightbar design in that instead of having an aluminium base with all of the fittings mounted on it, the Edge uses an “I” cross section of extruded Aluminium; this forms the top and bottom of the lightbar. All of the electronics and strobe modules are designed to be mounted inside the "I" section. Coloured lenses are then fitted so they extend outwards completing the lightbar.

The Edge is designed so that it can be maintained and or upgraded by the user. Being modular, extras can be added I the field without having to return to the factory. The basic bar comes with 4 corner strobe modules. These are cleverly designed linear strobe tubes with a reflector, which gives nearly 360 degrees of warning power.

A number of police forces here in the UK including Kent where I live, use the Edge lightbar. They are all blue and even on a bright sunny day you can see them for miles.

As I said earlier, the Edge comes in a variety of sizes and you can specify the number of modules you want, takedowns, halogens, alleys etc. The more modules you have, the more power supplies you will need.

A fully loaded Edge lightbar is not cheap, but you get what you pay for in this world. In the realm of strobe lightbars, I would say the don’t come much better then the Whelen Edge.
